Tool Bench
Separate material behaviour from hand-control problems.
The Tool Bench uses controlled comparisons so learners can understand what a nib, ink or paper surface changes.
Nib flexibility
Write the same controlled stroke with two pointed nibs and note how much pressure is required for a similar width. The exercise is descriptive, not a ranking of brands.
Paper surface
Compare smooth and more absorbent paper using the same ink and nib. Record feathering, drag, catching and hairline quality.
Ink flow
Observe pooling, drying and how long the nib writes before dipping. Learners keep movement constant so the material variable remains visible.
Practice log
A simple log records nib, paper, ink and the specific symptom being tested. This helps prevent random changes to several variables at once.
